Support Heroes In Transition at the 12th Annual Fall Gala

Heroes In Transition’s Couples Facilitators Kristen and John Alexander will serve as the keynote speakers at our 12th Annual Fall Gala.

Heroes In Transition (HIT) will hold its 12th Annual Fall Gala on Saturday, November 6, 6-10 pm, at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel in North Falmouth.

“This event serves as a reminder of how we started and why our programs are so critical to ensuring service members, veterans, and military families can successfully transition to civilian life,” said HIT Executive Director Nicole Spencer. “We’re excited to celebrate the work we’ve done over the past year while continuing to grow so those we serve receive the support and assistance they deserve.”

Tickets to the Fall Gala can be purchased by clicking the button below and includes hor d’oeuvres, a buffet dinner, and cash bar. There will be a silent and live auction that will include a fund-a-need, allowing guests to donate directly to support HIT’s programs.

The Fall Gala is held a little more than a week after the anniversary of Marine Captain Eric A. Jones’ death. The only son of Cyndy and the late Kenneth Jones of Mashpee, Captain Jones was killed on October 26, 2009, while flying a combat mission in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan. He was only 29.

Following his death, his parents formed Heroes In Transition to fill in gaps in services to individuals serving, veterans, and military families that weren’t being met elsewhere. HIT’s programs include equine therapy for military families and veterans; a Spring and Fall Couples Retreat; fishing excursions; providing service dogs to veterans, based on need; monthly outings for veterans and service members, military couples, military spouses, and military families; and financial assistance.

In recent years, HIT has expanded its programming to create a close-knit community among the various groups it serves. Through that community, those groups – military families, military couples, veterans, and military spouses – are able to provide a deeper level of support for each other. It’s an added benefit of HIT’s programs that ties into the theme for this year’s gala, Stronger Together.

Keynote speakers Kristen and John Alexander of Sandwich, will share their firsthand experiences about how HIT’s work has embodied this theme. The pair are facilitators for HIT’s veterans, couples, and spouses programs.

“In our roles at Heroes In Transition, we’ve seen just how impactful our programs are for those we serve,” Kristen said. “HIT has saved marriages and saved lives, and given hope, guidance, direction, and community for veterans, spouses, and couples who needed it most. As a military couple, my husband and I know just how difficult it can be to overcome the challenges that come with military service. And we’re honored that we get to play a role in helping others successfully confront these challenges through the important work HIT does in our region.”
