Stay Safe and Be Well: A Message from Cyndy Jones

Even as we are all safe in the shelter of our homes, the HIT family is very active. Throughout our ten years, this family has had only one main objective: to be there when help is needed.

Remember John Lennon’s song, “Beautiful Boy”? John used a quote from Allan Saunders — “Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans.”

After we all filled in our calendars with events at the start of 2020 — coronavirus is “what happened,” throughout the world, in America, and on Cape Cod.

We all share in this new virus.

Business closings and school closings were not a part of our 2020 plan. However, they did happen and we can adapt to this happening easier if we see this as a gift of time with our families and friends.

Our perspective of these life events can either light up our souls or darken our spirits.

Americans have an amazing ability to stand together in time of distress and devastation. This strong sense of solidarity is what makes us Americans! In times like this, we seem to “strut” our compassion.

We get to see our effectiveness during challenging times. It is that “brotherhood/sisterhood bond in the face of destruction” that Sebastian Junger wrote about in his book, Tribe. It is the same bond that we have created in the Heroes In Transition community.

We are here to give a hand. Although our regular programs are on hold at this time, we can still help.

Stay safe, stay healthy!
