Steve Anzuoni’s connection to the military and first responders runs deep. His father was a police officer. His brother Robert served in the 82nd Airborne and previously was the director of the 82nd Airborne Division War Memorial Museum at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Steve attended Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont, the oldest private military college in the United States.
“I’ve always had a deep respect for the military and our first responders,” Steve said. “I was a whisper from being in the military and a whisper from being a cop. I ended up, ironically, meeting someone who worked at John Hancock and married her. That’s how I got into the insurance business – I wanted to impress her.”
Since 1999, when he became an insurance broker, Steven has owned Fairway Financial in Yarmouth, where he works alongside his wife Tracy, the firm’s office manager. Together, they’re helping clients achieve their personal financial goals.
Through his job, Steve has made a commitment to giving back, most recently extending his passion for the military by signing on as a Major Sponsor for the Veteran’s Top Shot Invitational, a combined golf tournament held in the spring and a shooting tournament held on September 11, which raises funds for both Heroes In Transition (HIT) and the Nicholas G. Xiarhos Memorial Foundation Fund.
Recently, Steve met with our President Cyndy Jones and Executive Board which served as an impetus for him lending his support to this year’s Top Shot Invitational. “This was an absolute no-brainer,” he said. “I still can’t get over an organization like Heroes and all that they do for people, from their couples retreats to their Families In Transition Camp and all they do with horses to their spouses’ programs.

“The meeting with the HIT board and staff just reinforced my goal of doing something locally to give back,” he continued.
As part of Fairway Financial’s sponsorship, they are underwriting an advertising campaign, highlighting HIT’s programs and services, that is airing on Cape Cod Radio.
Steve, who also serves as the host of Ready, Set, Retire Radio that airs every Saturday morning on WXTK, said giving back was ingrained in him at a young age. He was raised in a blue-collar family in Everett, the grandson of Italian immigrants who came to America in 1918. “My grandparents lived downstairs from me and my grandmother was always a giving person,” Steve recalled. “Her house was always open no matter who it was. My mother was the same way. It’s why my wife and I have hosted players for the Cape Cod Baseball League for the past 10 years. We love all the teams and I love the league and the concept of young kids striving to get to the next level.”
Through giving, Steve said, “the more it feels like we receive. That is the way life is; the more it comes back to you. The way I was raised, if you’re blessed to be fortunate enough to be in a financial situation to do it, I think it’s the right thing to do.”
That philosophy has aligned perfectly with this latest opportunity for Steve to support the Veteran’s Top Shot Invitational and organizations like ours. “This is really about Heroes In Transition and the great work they are doing,” he said. “They are the heroes. I am fortunate enough to have done well in my business where I can give back and support their work.”
